JAMMU, March 19 : A high intensity earthquake rocked Jammu in the wee hours of the morning today killing more than 105 people and injuring nearly 340. The severe earthquake of magnitude of 6.4Mw occured at around 02:46 Indian Standard Time. The epicenter was located to the west of Katra while the hypocenter was located at a depth of approximately 7.9 km. 

The earthquake triggered a few landslides in the villages surrounding Jammu. The earthquake disrupted normal life in the city, destroying many residential areas and rendering many people homeless. Relief and rescue efforts by the government are going on in full swing.
