JJ Thomson in 1898 proposed that an atom is spherical shaped in which the positive charge is uniformly distributed and the electrons are embedded into it in such manner that gives it the most stable electrostatic arrangement .This model is also known as plum pudding model along with it , it is also visualised as a watermelon

An important feature of this model is that , the mass of the atom is assumed to be uniformly distributed over the atom.
