Short note on ACHEULEAN INDUSTRY & SOHANIAN INDUSTRY :

ACHEULEAN INDUSTRY -
Acheulean industry is an archaeological industry of stone tool manufacturer. This industry is named after the site of St. Acheul on the river Somme in France. In 1847, in the site of St. Acheul some antiques of stone age were first discovered. The stone tools of Acheulean are the products of Homo erectus. This industry is found in Africa, East and west Asia and Europe. This industry is the longest running industry lasting for over million years. The main tool of Acheulean industry was stone hand axes.Some more Acheulean tools are choppers , scrapers, flakes , blades, cleavers etc. These tools are of pear and oval shaped.These tools are used for hunting, butchering, digging , skinning of animals etc. Quartzite, the main raw material used for making these tools.

SOHANIAN INDUSTRY -
Sohanian industry is an archaeological industry of pebble tools of the lower Palaeolithic In the Indian subcontinent in the Siwalik Hills.This industry is named after the Soan river valley in Pakistan. Hundred of edged pebbles tools were found at Adiala & Khasala in Pakistan and hand axes and cleavers were also found at Chauntra in Himachal Pradesh. In the Soan river ,14 million year old fossils of crocodile, rhinoceros, giraffe etc have been found.
