There are 4 types of caste

Caste System in Ancient India

Kshatriyas (warriors, kings, administrators, etc.)

Vaishyas (agriculturalists, traders, etc., also called Vysyas)

Shudras (laborers)

The phrase caste system has been around since the 1840's, but we've been using caste since the 1500's.
