chipko movement was started by sunderlal bahuguna. And it first start in Uttar Pradesh. and when britishers came to India and the British General ordered his soldiers to cut down trees and when the britishers are cutting trees the women covered the trees with their hands. and don't allow the britishers to cut down trees. this movement is called chipko movement or chipko andolan.
