1.It is a small and posterior part of forebrain.It is covered by cerebrum and it consists of thalamus,hypothalamus,epithalamus.

2. Thalamus -it forms upper lateral walls of Diencephalon.It forms 80% part of Diencephalon.

3. Hypothalamus - forms lower ventral part of diencephalon.

4.Very important part of the brain called hypothalamus lies at the base of the thalamus.

5.Corpus albicans or Mammillary body is found on the posterior part of hypothalamus.It is a characteristic of mammalian brain.

6.Epithalamus forms the roof of diencephalon. Pineal body is found in epithalamus.
