There are 16 nutrients required by plants. Out of these, Air provides Carbon and oxygen. Water provides hydrogen and oxygen. Rest of the nutrients are provided by the soil.

The nutrients provided by the soil are divided into two categories :-

Macro nutrients :-

Nitrogen, phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Sulphur

Micro nutrients :-

Iron, Zinc, Boron, copper, Malybednum, Chlorine
