Founders effect is an very important and useful example of genetic drift in human population.

Genetic drift is the term used in population genetics to refer to the calculated drift over a period of  time of gene frequencies in a population due to random sampling effects in the formation of successive generations.

it is noted when a small group of persons called founders, leave their homes to find a new settlement, the population in a new settlement may have dufferent genotypes frequency from that of the parent populations.
