The Frankfurt Parliament was the first freely elected parliament for all of Germany, which was elected on 1 May 1848. A large number of political associations came together in Frankfurt to cast their vote for an all-German National Assembly. On 18 May 1848, 831 elected representatives marched to take their places in the Frankfurt parliament summon in the Church of St Paul. It was an all-German National assembly which comprised of Middle-Class professionals, businessmen and prosperous Artisans belonging to different German regions. It was disbanded on 31 May 1849 because it lost all its support.
