Throughout his life, he never lost faith in his non-violent methods or in the compatibility of Islam and non-violence. He recognised as a jihad struggle with only the enemy holding swords. He was closely identified with Gandhi because of his non-violence principles and he is known in India as the 'Frontier Gandhi'.

Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan was referred to as frontier Gandhi. He was also known as Bacha Khan. He was a Pashtun independence activist who campaigned to eliminate and end the rule of the British Raj in India.
