A galaxy is a gravitationally bound system of stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matter. The word galaxy is derived from the Greek galaxias, literally "milky", a reference to the Milky Way.

DEFINITION;

Our earth revolves around the sun in an orbit. And the sun is among lots of stars found in our milky way galaxy that is a galaxy among lots of galaxies. In other words they are gravitational bounds with stars, dust, dark matter and so on. Our galaxy is Milky Way galaxy.

But in the universe 100 billion galaxies are found. The word galaxy is derived from a Greek word galaxia meaning milky that's like a reference to our name of galaxy, milky way galaxy. But till we are known of just one solar system that bound mainly planets, satellites and stars. Asteroids and meteroids are other substances found...!!
