giya su din balban was the ninth sultan of the Mamluk dynasty of Delhi. Ghiyas ud Din was the wazir and heir of the last Shamsi Sultan, Nasir ud-Din. He reduced the power of the treacherous nobility and heightened the stature of the sultan. In spite of having only few military achievements, he was the most powerful ruler of the sultanate between Shamsuddin Iltutmish and Alauddin Khalji.

Answer:
Ghiasuddin Balban (1265 – 1287) belonged to the Mamluk dynasty who ruled Delhi between 1206 to 1290. He was born a Turkish slave who was captured by the Mongols and subsequently sold to King Shamsuddin Iltutmish, where he gradually rose to power.
Balban’s main functions were the reorganization of the military and taking stern action against the corrupt nobility of the court. The nobles under the king at that time were notorious for their corruption and treachery. He punished them severely and cut down their powers.
