A place is enclosed by glass, this glass traps heat. The temperature inside enclosure is higher than the temperature of surroundings. So tropical plants can be grown using this phenomena in poles or in areas where temperature is cold. This enclosure is calledgreenhouse. In this manner the atmospheric gases such as methane, carbon dioxide etc.. traps the heat. This effect is called green house effect.
is this enough

GREEN HOUSE EFFECT.
Green house effect is a phenomenon in which the average temperature of the environment increases resulting in change in the ecological activities and melting of glaciers.
This can result in wide scale destruction as well as rise in water level and ultimately submerging the entire world into the oceans and water resources.
This term is taken from an effect observed in glass houses where the plants are grown in cold countries. The house is known as green house where the temperature is quite high and this is because of the trapping of heat of the sun by the glasses.
Green house effect in the atmosphere is caused by various gases namely carbondioxide, methane, oxides of sulphur and nitrogen, chloro floro carbon(s) (CFCs).
Hope this will be helping you.
