History of Coordinate Geometry:

Geometry was well developed to describe the dimension of an object, but it failed to describe the position of the object. There was a need for a system to describe position of the object. 17th century French Mathematician Rene Descartes liked to lie on bed & think. Once fine day when resting in bed, he solved the problem of describing the position of a point n a place. He designed Cartesian System. It made geometry quantitative & permitted the use of algebra methods in geometry. It is much better approach to geometry that the earlier Axiomatical/ Logical approach
