The Indigo Revolt was a peasant uprising which was started by the Indigo farmers against the British planters in Bengal in 1858. The farmers burned indigo depots and killed publicly some planters and local zamindars. The Revolt was successful which compelled the British to appoint Indigo Commission in 1860
