Khilafat movement was a significant movement in the freedom struggle of India. This movement wasn't originated in India but Turkey and was started by the Ali brothers, namely, Maulana Muhammad Ali and Maulana Shaukat Ali. Their effort was to end the british rule as the Britishers were trying to end the rule of the Caliph.
This movement was supported by the Indian National congress and later on the Hindus as well as the Muslims of Indian subcontinent joined together and supported this movement religiously.
