Answer:

Lushkov's was a beggar who aimed at making money by fooling people. One day he came across Skvortsov, a lawyer. He addressed the lawyer in the lawyers house and claimed that he needed money for he had lost his job. He told the lawyer that he had been a school master and wanted to go to Keluga province for a new job. He also stated that some officials had lied about him which is why he lost his job. The lawyer was an observant and smart man, who at once caught Lyushkov in his lie. The lawyer told Lushkov that 2 days ago he had met with him and asked for money after telling a story that, "Lushkov was an expelled student". After getting caught the beggar explained the real reason for his lying and unemployment status. He was a drunkard member of the russian choir which is why he was thrown out. The lawyer wanted to make this man a better man so he sent him off with his cook named Olga so that he could earn livelihood by chopping wood instead of being a drunk liar. Lushkov was not able to chop wood but Olga did all his work for him. Later on the beggar learned to work for himself by doing small odd jobs. As time passed by he became hardworking and qualified enough to get some paperwork related tasks by Skvortsov, This went on until he became a notary office.
