Ambedkar on the other hand sought reservation for them in educational institutions, separate electorates. For him, political empowerment was the only way of achieving upliftment for dalits.

They may have argued for different roads to progress and for eliminating untouchability but both leaders were against this age old tradition which they rightly argued was inimical to democracy.
