Write a note on naipaul's opinion on mahatmagandhi

 The Nobel laureate, V.S. Naipaul, has said that Mahatma Gandhi is still relevant to the country as a " subject of study" as many of his letters and other documents are left unexplored by writers.

Mr. Naipual was speaking at the inaugural of the Tehelka Lecture organised by Tehelka and Crossword here today. The event turned out to be a question-and-answer session, although it was announced that Mr. Naipaul would deliver Tehelka Lecture. However, Mr. Naipaul read some selected pages from his book "India: A wounded civilisation". And the pages, which he read, were part of his attempt to understand Gandhi right from his South African experiences and trace the history of the country from multiple points of view. On the question whether racial consciousness could be transcended into a bi-cultural experience, he said it could not be. It was "senseless" to claim "global belonging" and transcending racial consciousness as a kind of liberation.
