The right to freedom of association is recognized as a human right, a political freedom and a civil liberty. This freedom can be limited by laws that protect public safety. Freedom of expression includes freedom of speech, of the press, of association, of assembly and petition

Recently two of our freedom fighters have been much in the news. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Babasaheb Ambedkar. This is a refreshing change from the usual Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru which we keep hearing non-stop.

August 15, 1947  ( when did we get freedom)

The provisions of the Indian Independence Act 1947, which transferred legislative sovereignty to the Indian Constituent Assembly, came into effect on August 15, 1947. The day also coincides with the partition of British-ruled India into two countries, India and Pakistan.
