plastids are the cytoplasmic organelles visible under the light microscope.However their detailed structure can be seen under electron microscope.

These organelles are found in the plant cells and in certain protists but are absent in animal cells.

The plastids of higher plants exist in a variety of forms and have wide range of structure and function.Basically they can be categorized into two broad categories.

a=Leucoplasts

b=chrmoplasts
