Acetylene is generally formed from the reaction of inorganic compounds like calcium carbide with the water.  

This is one of the important method used for the industrial processes to prepare the acetylene compounds.

This reaction is endothermic in nature at the ordinary temperature and favored thermodynamically at the very high temperatures.  

Normally the alkynes are prepared using the three methods:

The industrial method of preparation

The general method of preparation.

Laboratory preparation.
