Note on Rabindranath Tagore and his school

Rabindranath Tagore started institution in the name of Shantiniketan in 1901 as a child He hated going to school he found it it is application and oppressive. on growing up he wanted to set up a school where the child was happy and where she he would could be able explore his heart thought and desire Tagore was of the view that creative learning could be encouraged only within a natural environment and children could cultivate their natural creativity.

Rabindranath Tagore from his childhood hated the suffocating atmosphere of school

According to him childhood ought to be time of self learning instead of being encircled by rigid suffocating discipline of school . With such views in mind he found shantiniketan away from hustle bustle of Calcutta.where child can find abode of peace and develop creativity in natural environment. He also wanted to combine what he found best in English and Indian education that is why he taught Western sciences and literature along with dance art music.
