Rani Lakshmi Bai also famously known as Jhansi ki Rani ,was one of the leading figures of the Rebellion of 1857.
Her real name was Manikarnika and was born on November 19th, 1828 .
She lost her mother at a very tender age and was brought up by her father alone who worked at the court of Peshwa as an advisor.
Since childhood she had interest in horsemanship, archery, self-defense and shooting.
In 1842 , she was married to Gangadhar Rao , the King of Jhansi.
Lakshmibai gave a great fight to the British as the siege of Jhansi lasted for about two weeks.
She died on June 17, 1958, martyring her life for India's freedom.
