Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain ( 9 December 1880. – 9 December 1932), commonly known as Begum Rokeya, was a Bengali feminist thinker, writer, educator and political activist from British India (present day Bangladesh). She is widely regarded as a pioneer of women's liberation in South Asia.She wrote a remarkable story with the title Sultana's dream in 1905. It is a story revolving round the central character Sultana and her dreams of Ladyland where women enjoy the freedom to read, work and create new inventions such as controlling rain from the clouds and flying air cars.

Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain was born in a rich family who acquired education with the dream of bringing about a change in the condition of women.

She learnt Bangla and English and later became a writer.She wrote a story Sultana's Dream in 1905. In her book she talks of an imaginary world , Ladyland where women are free and are treated equally.
