Sawai Raja Jai Singh, ruler of Amber was one of the most important Rajput rulers of the eighteenth century. He founded the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan and made it his capital, he is also known for introducing several social reforms and also for promoting and patronising learning science and art. Also he was highly interested in the economy and belt observatories called Jantar Mantar in Jaipur, Delhi, Ujjain, Mathura and Varanasi.
