The Indian people were agitated and the movement for freedom grew stronger and stronger day by day. In 1927 the British Government sent Sir John Simon and some other members to find out the grievances of the Indian people. This was called Simon Commission. It was an all white commission and not even a single Indian was its member. The people boycotted this commission. When the commission came to Lahore, Lala Lajpat Rai and some other people greeted them with black flags and the slogan "Simon go back".
