A subtractive color model involves the mixing of a limited set of dyes, inks, paint pigments or natural colorants to create a wider range of colors, each the result of partially or completely subtracting (that is, absorbing) some wavelengths of light and not others.

Subtractive Color:
Subtractive color method involves illuminated colored filters with white or reflected light. The commonly used colors are cyan, magenta, and yellow. If all the three colors are overlapped with equal proportions, the light is subtracted giving black color.
These are the opposing colors to red, green and blue. The emissive devices use additive color system like televisions, tablets, mobile phones, and monitors. Spectrum of colors are created using the basic colors.
The black color helps to neutralize images and graphics which adds density to the shadows.
