ANSWER
Thalassaemia is an inherited blood disorder. It occurs due to mutation in one of the gene encoding for haemoglobin. It results in excessive destruction of erythrocytes. This leads to anemia. There are three types of it, namely beta thalassemia, alpha thalassemia and thalassemia minor. The symptoms include pale skin, dark urine, bone deformities, excessive tiredness and fatigue. Treatment includes blood transfusions, bone marrow transplant, medications and supplements.
