Ahoms, the only ruling dynasty in Assam and few more parts of the northeast, known to have fought the struggle for independence without any assistance from any great leader from that time.

Explanation:

  • It was prince Gamadhor Konwar who raised campaign against the British 28 years before the sepoy mutiny which was known as the first battle of independence in India.
  • It all started at Mariani a year later it was annexed by British where Gamadhor along with his compatriot held the first revolt for independence.
  • He was a close relative of Pratap Singha who set ablaze at British armory and fled to Naga Hills where he was arrested and deported to Andaman however he failed his attempt but it ignited the spirit of independence all over the place.
