Early man used Bullock carts which were buckled by animals or carried loads and goods on animals such as bulls donkeys etc.

Earliest travel was done by foot. Domesticated animals and water craft followed. Sails were discovered to save labor and boats/ships sped up. Crude wheels became refined under the Assyrian, Egyptian and Babalonian empires making chariot and wagon travel possible. The Greeks created a stone railway called The Diolkos, (portage machine) across the isthmus of Corinth in 600 BC. They found heavier loads could be moved over a fixed guideway. The Romans built the Via Appia in 312 BC and a network of paved roads took root. Around 600 AD the first aerial cable-gondolas appeared to move logs across rivers. By the late 1700’s steamboats and railways were on the horizon. By 1804 the first steam locomotive was being tested. In 1807 steam was first applied to power boats. By the 1830’s an explosion of railroad growth started covering Europe and North America, it would continue to grow until its zenith in 1924. By 1852 Gifford had traveled 17 miles on a steam powered dirigible airship. In 1871 the Cable-Car Street Railway vehicle was perfected. In 1886 Gottlieb Daimler Drive the first automobile. Frank Sprague perfected the electric ‘Trolley’ Streetcar in 1888. 1903 the Wright Brothers achieve powered heavier-than-Air flight. 1908 the first model T was built by Henry Ford…
