There was a musical instrument named pungi. Its sound was not melodious. So it was banned by the ruling king. Later, a barbar updated the settings of pungi and and formed a totally new musical instrument Shehnai. It was made the shahi instrument .It was named so because it was the shahi instrument made by a nai (barbar). So shahi+nai=shehnai.
