Prime minister of India is the head of the government of the republic and the council ministers at the center. He is the chief executive of the government. He is the chief advisor to the President of India. So the Prime minister advises the President in various issues related to current affairs of India.
The Prime minister is elected through Parliamentary elections as a member of Parliament. Usually the leader of the ruling party having a majority in the Lok Sabha is sworn in as the Prime minister, after the general elections. He or she can be a member of Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha.
Prime minister is responsible for introducing various types of bills in Parliament. The bills get converted into legal acts and ordinances as per the constitution. One of his functions is to appoint ministers, allocate them portfolios, and monitor their performance.
He monitors the good performance and functioning of the implementation of policies. He takes care of the government employees.
He runs the government machinery and allocates funds to projects and schemes through the help of his cabinet ministers.
