Here are some of the commonly used bases with their application:

 

·  Sodium hydroxide is used in the manufacture of soap, paper, etc.

·  Calcium hydroxide is used in manufacturing bleaching powder.

·  Magnesium hydroxide is used as an antacid.

·  Sodium carbonate is used as washing soda and for softening hard water.

·  Sodium hydrogen carbonate is used as baking soda in cooking and in home made fire extinguishers.
