Answer:

Weedicides are elements, herbal or chemical, sprayed on the soil surface by the farmers traditionally to eliminate the weeds in their fields. Weeds are waste crops which grow along and compete with the main crops for water, nutrients, space, and light and thus affect the growth, development, and yield of the main crops. Weedicides control the growth of the weeds and thereby aids in increasing the main crop yield, protects the main crop, and enhances efficient use of water, nutrients, fertilizers, pesticides, light, and space by the main crops. The type or action of the weedicide depends upon the type of the weed and the crops which they infest. Weedicide 2,4-D is used to kill weeds in maize fields, bispyribac sodium and ethoxy sulfuron are used in rice paddy fields. The timing of weedicide application depends upon the soil moisture content and is done both during pre and post-emergence and should be sprayed only on dry sunny days.
