A zwitterion is generally known as dipolar ion, it is a neutral molecule with both positive and negative electric charge at the same time.
or in simple way , A species that contains both positive and negative ions at the same is known as zwitterion .
for example :- see figure, An amino acid contains one NH3+ ion which is acidic in nature and one COO- ion which is basic in nature. so we can say that right side of figure is example of zwitterion.

HELLO DEAR,
As the alpha amino acids have both the acidic and basic end in the solution they exist in the form of dipole molecule known as zwitter ion.
As The Molecule Have Both Positive And Negative And The Intermolecular Force Of Attraction Is Very High And Hence They Exist In Solid Form.
I HOPE IT'S HELP YOU DEAR,
THANKS
