ATQ,
x y = 45
x - y = 12
Equation 1:
x y = 45
x = 45/y -------- (i)
Equation 2:
x - y = 12
x = 12 + y -------(ii)
Combine eq1 & eq2
= 45/y = 12 + y
= 45 = 12y+ y²
= 45 - 12y - y² = 0
= -y² - 12y + 45 = 0
= - y² - 15y + 3y + 45 = 0
= - y(y + 15) +3( y + 15) = 0
= ( y + 15 ) ( y - 3)
Now,
- y = -15
- y = 3
Put the value of both y in equation 1
→ y = -15
= x = 45/y
= x = 45/-15
= x = -3
→ y = 3
= x = 45/y
= x = 45/3
= x = 15
Therefore, the value of x and y are:
- x = -3, 15
- y = -15, 3
