here goes –>

a) 5 and 8
5 - 8 = (-3) negative

b) 5 and 5
5 - 5 = 0 zero

c) (-5) and 8
(-5) - 8 = (-13) smaller than both -5 and 8

d) (-5) and (-2)
(-5) - (-2)
-5+ 2 = (-3) larger than only (-5)

e) (-5) and (-8)
-5 - -8
-5 + 8= 3 larger than both -5 and 8
