The peacock is the national bird of india. It is a beautiful bird. It has long colourful green and blue feathers. It has a spotted design on the feather which looks like eyes. It has a bright blue neck which shimmers in the light. When the peacock dances it spreads its feathers like a fan. What a glorious sight it is. There is also a breed of peacock which has white feathers. Peacock are found throughout india in fields, woods and forests. They are heavy birds and cannot fly far. The female bird is called, the peahen. It is smaller then the peacock and has grey and Browne coloured feathers. The blue peacock lives in India and Sri Lanka, while the green peacock is found in Java and Myanmar.

Peacocks are of bright greenish-blue colour. It has a long beautiful neck. Its long feathers have moon-like spots. They are mixed with green, blue, yellow and golden colors. It has long legs and a crown. Its neck is bright dark blue. It is very graceful. It dances in rainy season. When the peacock spreads its tail, the tail looks like a big colourful fan.

Peacock mainly lives on foodgrains and insects.The female peacock is called peahen.

The peahen is not so attractive. It is smaller in size. It is a brown bird. It has no colourful feathers. Its legs are rough and ugly.
