Medical care has several important functions other than restoring or maintaining health. These other functions are assessment and certifications of health status, prognostication, segregating of the ill

to limit communication of illness, and helping to cope with the problems of illness. There is a specific definition given by World Health Oraganization in its 1948 constitution, about health and that is, "it is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Health can be considered as the level of our physical and functional abilities to adpt to changes in their surroundings.
