He is an Indian politician serving as the 16th and current prime minister of State India since 2014.
He was the cheif minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014,and is the member of parliament for Varanasi.
Modi,a member of Bharatiya Janata party(BJP),is a Hindu nationalist and member of the right wing Rashtriya swayamsewak sangh(RSS).

There is no direct election to the post of prime minister . The president appoints the prime minister. But the president cannot appoints anyone he likes. He appoints the leader of the majority party or the coslition of parties that commands a majority in the lok sabha ,as a prime minister . Prime minister has not a for xed tenure .
