In my summer vacation I had visited to sivasagar a historical place. This is my wonderful visit of my life. I written some things of Sivasagar

Sivasagar, named after its ruler, Shiva Singha is a city of great historical importance in Assam. Situated in the North eastern part of India, the city attracts a lot of tourists every year. It may be called pride of Assam due to its rich cultural heritage and historical importance. Once it was the capital of te great Ahom kingdom, the brave dynasty who ruled Assam for glorious six hundred years, before the onset of the British rule in India. The ancient name of Sivasagar is Rangpur; this name suggests about the place that it is a place of joy and happiness.

Sibsagar is a town in Upper Assam, about 360 kilometres north east of Guwahati. It is the district headquarters of the Sivasagar district. It is well known for its Ahom palaces and monuments. Sivasagar is now also an important centre for the tea and oil industries. we have seen too many historical monuments as well as destructions in our visit like sivadol, Rang Ghar, Kareng Ghar, Maidams in charaideo and many more.

Sivadol is a group of structures comprising three Hindu temples of Sivadol, Visnudol and Devidol, other shrines, and a museum. These are located on the banks of the Sivasagar tank, in the heart of Sivasagar, in Assam. The tank was constructed between 1731 and 1738.The height of the Sivadol is 104 feet.

Rang ghar- The Rang Ghar is two-storied building which once served as the royal sports-pavilion where Ahom kings and nobles were spectators at games like buffalo fights and other sports at Rupahi Pathar, particularly during the Rongali Bihu festival in the Ahom capital of Rangpur. It is 3 km away from the center of the Sivasagar Town. Situated by the side of the Assam Trunk Road, it lies to the northeast of the Rangpur Palace, a seven storied royal complex.

The Ahom community in Assam consider the excavation as an affront to their tradition, because the maidams are associated with the Ahom ancestor worship and the festival of Me-Dam-Me-Ph.

The Ahom community in Assam consider the excavation as an affront to their tradition, because the maidams are associated with the Ahom ancestor worship and the festival of Me-Dam-Me-Ph. Really it was an amazing trip for all of us. We seen a lot valuables there, also learned a lot of the Ahom dynasty and the historical place Sibasagar. We spent three days there. We enjoyed a lot.

Maidams are tumuli of the royalty and aristocracy of the medieval Ahom Kingdom (1228-1826) in Assam. The royal maidams are found exclusively at Charaideo, near Sibasagar; whereas other maidams are found scattered in the region between Jorhat and Dibrugarh towns. Structurally, a maidam consists of vaults with one or more chambers. The vaults have a domical superstructure that are covered by ahemispherical earthen mound that rises high above the ground with an open pavilion at the peak called chow chali.
