Our country India
India, our country, is a huge and beautiful land full of wonders. From the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean, from the desert of Thar to the snowy mountains of Sikkim, it is a country full of beautiful landscapes and beautiful people. India is a unique country with diversity. “Unity in diversity” is the main slogan of the country.
On 15 August 1947, India awoke to ‘life and freedom’. After a long and arduous struggle, India had finally won independence from the British rule. We celebrate, each year, 15 August as India’s Independence Day. India became a republic on 26 January 1950. This day is celebrated as Republic Day. India embarked on a new journey as a sovereign, democratic republic.
