Answer:
Just like you would any other time describing something. I personally like to use three out (or even two out of five, as long as you use three different things to describe the setting) of five senses, that way it isn’t overwhelming for the reader.
For example, last week I was driving down to a small college town that my brother lives in so that I could rehearse a song with him and in the car (it’s about a two hour drive) I was constantly trying to find three things that set the theme of whatever I was describing.
Here's some examples:
Warm sun (a feeling), bumpy highways (a different kind of feeling), and dusty-smelling AC (a smell).
Chips Ahoy (a taste), lavender tea (another taste haha/smell), and memorizing homemade lyrics (seeing/thinking sense)
Supple clouds (a sight), driving past local truck stops (a feeling), and The Beatles (a feeling and sound).
Just now, sitting at my desk on my computer there are three things that will set the theme:
A wicker chair (touch/sound), an empty mug of honey tea (taste, feeling), and murmuring, complaining wind (sound)
For a beach you can use a lot of different things. For example:
Tear-stained sand (a touch/sound), solemn overcast light (sight), and melancholy waves (sound and sight).
Or:
Beaming sand (sight/touch/feeling), excited yells (sound), and cold, fruity drinks (touch and taste).
