We celebrated the Republic Day on 26th January this year. It was a day of joy for all of us. It is the day when we were totally free from the rule of England and Indian Constitution framed by Indians became applicable for the first time. Thus people were very happy.
Our school remained closed on that day for normal works. It was announced by the Principal that the flag hoisting ceremony would be held in the school compound at 8.00 a.m.
First of all, we assembled at the prayer hall. The national song and prayer were sung. The Principal hoisted the flag. Then we all went to a neighbouring village to demonstrate to the villagers by practical example, that manual labour is not a mean thing. Secondly, Indian students can do anything for the good of the country and they are not mere book-worms. After doing some work, we all returned at about 1.00 p.m.
In the evening, a procession started from our school and it passed through the main roads of the city. In the end, a meeting was held near the clock tower.
Several prominent guests from the city were invited. There was strict discipline. The meeting went on smoothly. Speeches were very fine. The chief guest thanked the people for assembling and maintaining peace and order. He specially thanked the students of the college in helping the volunteers to control such a large group of people.
We all returned to our houses after having food.

THE MOST ENJOYABLE DAY I SPENT
It was the first day of our summer vacation, Unlike my school days, I woke up early since I had to make plans for spending the vacation in a fruitful manner.
Before I could start, my mobile phone rang and Jyoti, my friend, called up to invite me to her place to spend the evening with her. She had also asked other friends to come, so that we could enjoy some time together, without worrying about homework or unit tests.
I reached her place at 4 pm and later Raghav, Meena, Jaya and the others joined in. We watched the movie ‘Kung-fu Panda’ and enjoyed it thoroughly. Aunty, Jyoti’s mother, served snacks and other refreshments. She had made all the food herself, which was simply delicious.
After the movie got over and we were about to leave, Jyoti stopped us and said that she had a surprise for as Little did we know that Jyoti had got ten passes for the cricket match between Royal Challengers and Delhi Dare Devils and she would be taking us to watch the match that evening at 8 pm.
When she ultimately revealed the surprise, all of us shouted with joy and thanked Jyoti for the passes.
We reached the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, the venue of the match, at 7:30 pm. We painted our faces with
colours of different teams and bought flags to cheer the players. The match was enthralling and I managed to get the autograph of my favourite player Virat Kohli. He was declared the Man of the Match since he helped the Royal Challengers, the team I supported, to win the match.
When we left the venue it was around 11 pm. but our parents did not mind since we had informed them earlier and moreover, Jyoti’s elder brother accompanied us.
It was a memorable day. I could not thank Jyoti enough for the surprise that she had given us. I personally enjoyed it very much since I got the opportunity to see my favourite sportsperson play his best and even meet him face to face. What more could I have asked for!
