A fern is a member of a group of vascular plants that reproduce via spores and have neither seeds nor flowers. They differ from mosses by being vascular, i.e., having certain tissue that conducts water and nutrients, and having branched stems

Special characteristic of ferns icludes:

- They do not produce seeds however they reproduce through special organ called spore.  

- Most ferns are called leptosporangiate ferns, they produce coiled fiddleheads that coils into fronds.

- Ferns are commonly known as ornamental plants because of their delicate appearance and bright colors.

- Ferns have a huge variety of plants exhibiting different characteristics.

- They are vascular plants.
