PREPARATION OF THE SOIL :
The first step of the agricultural practice is the preparation of the soil. Soil is ploughed, and leveled. Ploughing helps in breaking the big chunks of soil and also to uproot any weeds which are present in the ground. It also exposes the predators to the sun, thus making the land pest free. Leveling helps in maintaining a flat surface for the crops to grow.
SOWING :
Good quality seeds are chosen by the farmers. Sowing can be done in many ways, some of which include : Broadcasting, Drilling, Dibbling, etc. Modern technology is replacing the traditional methods of sowing.
WEEDING :
What are Weeds ?
Weeds are undesired plants which grow along the crops. It is necessary to remove these weeds in order to avoid competition for food, water, space, sunlight, etc. amongst the crops and the plants hence ruining the yield.
Weeding is the process of removing these weeds. The weeds are removed manually or weedicides (chemicals) are used to remove them.
THRESHING :
After the mature crops are harvested, the grains are removed from the husk and chaff. Threshing is the process of removing the chaff from the grains. The grains are beaten or a machine called 'Combine' is used for the process.
