There can be no doubt that the twentieth century is one of the most remarkable in human history for its previously unparalleled rate of scientific discoveries. In fact, there were so many new gadgets invented and discoveries made in the last century that it’s difficult to write the list down. However, I think I can say ten innovations or technologies that have had the greatest influence on humanity—both positively and the negatively.

First of all, I want to remember penicillin: this drug (eventually group of drugs) was discovered in 1928, it opened the door to the discovery of antibiotics. Penicillin remains the most widely used antibiotic, despite the fact that many diseases it was once used to treat have now become resistant to it. Nevertheless, this discovery had a far reaching impact in the medical world.
