A visit to a fair is very interesting and entertaining. A village fair presents a colorful and lively spectacle. The Baisakhi fair occupies a unique place in the almanac of Indian festivals. It is held on the first day of the month of Baisakhi every year. The harvesting season is over. It marks the advent of summer. The farmers have stored enough grain. They are full on new hopes and new joys. Their granary is full. Even the small farmers have stored enough wheat. Every heart is happy at such a time. The fair is generally held outside the village or town. It is held near some temple or tank. Small shopkeepers and vendors set up their stalls and hand carts. People from neighboring villages throng the place. Young and old, men women and children in colorful clothes come to see the fair. Hawkers, sweet-meat sellers and balloon-sellers cry their wares at the top of their voice. Somewhere a juggler is seen showing his tricks to the people. Sadhus wearing saffron clothes and beggars carrying bowls in their hands are seen at the fair. Farmers come on foot, in carts and on camel back. Many people go round the fair. The Red Cross stall draws a big rush. The mike announcements about some child lost of found distract the attention of the people. Children enjoy swings and merry-go-rounds. Outside the arena, wrestling tournaments are held in the afternoon. Races and Bhangra dance attract the attention of the people. Everybody seems to be in a merry mood. The Baisakhi fair leaves a long echo behind.
Answer:
Every year a fair is held near our village. The fair is held on the occasion of an annual cattle show. This cattle show is arranged by the whole state of Punjab. In this fair, cattle from all corners of Punjab are brought by their owners. The cattle of the best breeds are brought there. People flock in large numbers to see the variety of animals brought here. Cows, buffaloes, bulls, oxen and other animals are brought by their masters.
As this fair attracts the people from all the neighbouring villages and states, many other items of public interest are also displayed there. When I reached the spot, I noticed many things. First of all, there was one bazaar where shopkeepers were selling articles of daily usage. In one corner, there sat a juggler. The juggler was entertaining people with his clever tricks. His feats were really marvellous. His mannerisms were amazing and stunning.
As I moved farther, I saw a merry-go-round. On this, many boys, girls, men and women were having joy rides. There was a long queue of people patiently waiting to take ride.
Then I moved to another side. Here, some wrestling bouts had been organised. The renowned wrestlers of the adjoining areas had come here to participate in the wrestling. It was an interesting scene to see them tugging, pushing and grappling with each other. After seeing it for some time, I moved away.
From a distance, I saw a circle of people. When I went near it, I saw a snake charmer surrounded by spectators. The snake charmer was playing on his flute. The pipe was giving out a very melodious tune. Before his flute, a serpent was dancing. The serpent seemed to me completely hypnotised by the sweet sound of the flute. It was an interesting sight enjoyed by one and all.
The fair was arranged on a grand scale. Many people had come to buy or sell their cattle, some of which fetched very high prices. Many farmers brought bulls of good breeds. The cattle were nicely exhibited. Every fair-goer was buying something or the other.
I enjoyed this fair very much. It was enthralling for me to see this fair. A flood of humanity was all that I could see there. In the evening, the rush began to lessen, and I too made my way for home. I felt very tired on that day but I enjoyed this delightful fair to my heart’s content.
