to see tiny tots carrying huge bags to school. It is clear that educationists and school
authorities are callous towards this problem. They simply want more and more subjects to
be taught even at the elementary level. No wonder then, the number of books and note-
books is increasing. Teachers who give too much homework add to the woes of the school
going kid. Poor child has no time for playing games or for rest and relaxation .
The need of the hour is to lessen the weight of the school bag. This can be done by introducing play-way method of teaching. The number of subjects should be kept to the minimum
at the primary level, as is done in the West. Children should be encouraged to learn from
the world of nature.
Teacher should also minimize homework.They should ensure the learning of a lesson in the classroom itself. Even 'no homework' is possible if the syllabus is not heavy.
